How To Conquer Your Panic Today!

March 26, 2009

If you’ve ever had a panic or anxiety attack, you understand the complete terror…

“An attack comes on like a wave, and you can feel it coming, you find yourself covered with a massive wave of panic and anxiety. You
“know” it isn’t rational, but the feeling is beyond intense. Your heart feels like it is racing and might beat out of your chest. Your ears might start pounding. The air gets thin and space disappears. Everything is closing in and you just want it to end. You can feel your whole body tighten and tense. The fear is undescribable……”

And it’s crippling living with the realization that these attacks can happen anywhere, anytime. And, for no reason. It leaves a lump in your stomach and you begin to fear going out, never knowing what terrible thing might happen. And instead of getting better, it seems to be getting worse…”

If you suffer from panic and anxiety attacks you know what I mean. Here are a few signs you might be headed down that dark path…

Light Headedness – you experience dizzy spells or light headedness (and they might lead to fainting spells)

Breathing Difficulty – have you experienced your throat tightening making it difficult to swallow, followed by a shortness of breath

Speeding Heart – that loud, pounding heart with tingly sensations all over your body

Chest Pain – a tightness in your chest

Overwhelming Fear – the overwhelming terror that something truly terrible is about to happen?

I was there. I talked to my doctor, but he didn’t seem to truly understand. I tried hypnotherapy, it help a bit, but only for a while. I read a lot of books.

Without a doubt, One Single Book saved my life.

Now I enjoy a very active social life, a great family life, and a life free from panic and anxiety. Only I few years back I was scared to go to my daughters soccer games. Now, I’ve got my life back.

It’s been 3 years since I’ve had any sign of an anxiety or panic attack. And I’m SO grateful for the help I received.

PLEASE!!  Take a few minutes to read this…

Should you got to the doctor after a panic attack?

May 02, 2010

I think I had a panic attack (not 100%) all symptoms point to that anyways! Should I go to the doctor to get them to check it out?

I’ve had panic attacks after a few weeks of the combined effects of overwhelming homework, relationship issues, and life questions. These left me feeling scared, extremely anxious, and suicidal. I am not lying when I say I actually dreamed of killing myself.
The best solution is to go to a doctor, counselor, or parent.

Remember that life is like a roller coaster; there are good times and bad times but to end it all because you think things will never get better shows that you haven’t lived ling enough to experience how good life can be. This often happens to teenagers because that point of their lives is very brittle and hormonal.

To rap it up, yes, let someone know that you had a panic attack and that you are not sure what to do. Look online for stress relieving strategies…

What happens at the hospital when you have a panic attack?

April 30, 2010

If you were to go to the ER while having a panic attack, what would they do?

They check your vitals, and give you tests that rack up bills and then tell you it was only a panic attack. If it is not one they hopefully diagnose you with something else. Sometimes they give you a referral for psychologist’s office. They may also think you are just trying to get some drugs like valium or zanax and will write that in your file.

Is it normal to cry while having a panic attack?

April 01, 2010

When I have panic attacks (which are few) I start crying uncontrollable while having the normal symptoms (trouble breathing, heart racing etc). Does anyone else experience this and is this normal?
is it really a panic attack or something else?

Yes, it is absolutely normal for a lot of people who have panic attacks. Not everyone experiences panic attacks the same.

For instance, when I experience them, I cry, scream, gasp, my heart races, I get dizzy, lightheaded, and my muscles spasm. Oftentimes, my arms and fingers end up twisted into positions you wouldn’t think would be possible. While having a panic attack, if I don’t sit down immediately, I will collapse.

When my father experiences panic attacks, he has trouble breathing, his heart races, and he feels dizzy and lightheaded. But he doesn’t cry, scream or have the muscle spasms. He rarely collapses, although there have been the occasions.

I can’t say whether or not you’re having a panic attack. From what you’ve described, it certainly sounds like one! But I am not a doctor, nor have I seen you physically, so I am not qualified to say yea or nay. I used my father and me as examples because we have both been officially diagnosed with panic attacks (as well as other conditions.) A more accurate assessment could be attained if you mentioned this to your doctor the next time you see him/her. I hope that, whatever it is, you find out what it is and get help. Whether it is a panic attack or not, those feelings are highly distressing.

How do you get past a panic attack when you feel this insane amount of panic/fear?

There are many safe medications that will stop your anxiety attacks. You don’t have to live with anxiety. There is also a short term therapy for anxiety and anxiety attacks. It is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Anxiety. In this therapy you learn to recognize the thoughts that lead up to you anxiety or attacks. Then you learn the skills to change the thoughts to positive. Many who were on medication no longer need it after this therapy.

What’s going on? Am I getting a panic attack or are these symptoms the aftermath of an anxiety attack?

February 27, 2010

I feel like I’ve just ran a marathon, I feel drained, I feel like my heads are quite literally in the clouds(like I’m in a dream-like state), I feel tired now… Did I just go through a panic attack or just the aftermath of a moderate anxiety attack?

1. panic attack and anxiety attack are the same thing.
2. You would have noticed if you had had a panic attack–some people think they’re having a heart attack because it’s so scary.

Other than that, I don’t know what’s going on with you.
