Lemon balm teas were traditionally administered to calm the mind. For ages, people have relied on its extracts to treat the symptoms of depression and anxiety disorders; and infusions of the herb were prepared to treat headaches and nervousness. Its bioactive compounds – flavonoids, polyphenols, tannins, and triterpenes contain antioxidant and anti-hemorrhoidal properties that are relevant in healing nervine conditions. The herb induces relaxation by curtailing modes of anxiety and irritability.
Lavender on the other hand is regarded as the ultimate relaxation herb. It contains linalool and lavandulyl acetate-active constituents that help ease nervous tension. Linalyl Acetate, an anti-inflammatory substance known to effectively ease nervine pain, is also present in its extracts. Lavender extracts are traditionally used to relieve stress, headaches and fatigue. As a tonic, it reinforces the nervous system against episodes of exhaustion. Meanwhile in aromatherapy, the herb is used to clear moods of depression while inducing sleep.
Passion Flower is yet another herb that contains a boost of flavonoids known for its anti-anxiety effects. Traditionally administered to ease nervous restlessness, the herb has been observed to lower blood pressure as a way of promoting relaxation to the body. Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, the herb can help relieve neuralgia and as an antispasmodic, the Passion Flower eases the tremors and nervous shaking associated with panic attacks.
In line with its natural constituents, the body easily adapts to the active compounds of herbal remedies and therefore promotes healing without ensuing negative physiological consequences. Today, herbalists have come up with standardized herbal supplements for anxiety and panic attacks, such as PureCalm, which have been formulated from the expert combination of lemon balm, lavender, and passion flower extracts, and prepared in a concentrated tincture format to holistically promote the routine functions of a healthy nervous system. Using herbal supplements such as PureCalm to calm nervous tensions during the day will give you that perfect peace of mind you have been yearning for all along.
I have a panic disorder and in the early hours of this morning i had the worst panic attack EVER!!!
the panic attack subsided after 2 1/2 hours. and this morning all my chest is hurting as though I have strained it or something from the panic attack.
Has anyone else ever experienced this and is there anyway to get rid of the pain.
I will be going to the doctors when it opens on monday, but in the meantime OWCH!!!!!
thanks in advance xx
i kept drinking because i had dry mouth as well but i couldnt lay down because that was making it really difficult for me to breath. n TMI but after it subsided for a bit, i kept needing toilet for a wee. i went 4 times in 15 minutes, each time emptying, then my bladder filled back up.
I hope you are ok…is there anything stressing you out? You need to keep an eye on it…if it gets worse, I’d contact emergency services…in the meantime try and relax and remain calm. xxxx
I am just wondering how i know if im having a panic/anxiety attack and what to do if this happens
also the last few days i have been getting them and i was also diagnosed with anxiety and put on lexipro 10 mg
The attacks usually occur suddenly. either without cause or in situations where a person feels at risk although no apparent danger exist. Symptoms include shortness of breath, hot and cold flashes, dizziness, chest pain, racing heart or palpitations, sweating and nausea. The symptoms are sometimes so intense that people suspect they are having a heart attack.
Slow, deep breathing from your abdomen is your best defense against panic attacks. Slow breathing can relieve muscle tension, dizziness, and many other early symptoms before they blossom into high panic.
So when you feel a panic attack coming on, place a hand on your abdomen and inhale slowly and deeply through your nose to count of four. As you breathe in, your hand should rise, a sign that you are breathing correctly. When you have taken a full breath, pause for a moment and then exhale slowly through your nose or mouth to a count of four. Allow your whole body to relax and become a limp as a rag doll. Do 10 repetitions or more, if necessary
Hope this help.
When i have a panic attack…among other symptoms, I feel like i am going to lose control of my self and i start to feel like things are not real.
What exactly causes you to feel detached from reality?
To explain it fully would take pages.. but this is the short version. In a panic attack your body is setting itself up to run away as fast as it possibly can, or to fight to the death. Your body believes it is under attack and the adrenaline and all that kind of stuff is ready for immediate action. Among those conditions that are created is the feeling of being detached. Because you need to shed all distractions and be able to focus 100% on the ‘danger’. So your mind takes you to the place of a prey animal. That is why an animal in a trap will have a glazed over look.. it is in that same place of having reality suspended so that it can fight with little pain and all of its power to get away. I survived six yrs of panic attacks and came out a much healthier and stronger person, so take hope. And I never had to do therapy or take drugs to get alright, so hang in there.
