Panic attack medications?

wondering what people take for panic attacks… i have been prescribed benzos but haven't had much relief. what else is there to take prn?

You may be able to get your doc to give buspar.
Sometimes it gives a little more anxiety for a very few minutes, then it levels out and is ok for hours.
You will probably have to prove responsibility, but it's not a street drug the way that benzo's are so they aren't as tricky for your head, with addiction or being monitored.
Benzo's work for awhile, but when they don't, I've taken this for periods of time with remarkable results.

in january i started to smoke weed cause i was very sad and stressed but i quit,i only smoked it for one month,but i started to have anxiety and panic like ''despersonalization'' and a lot of symptoms does it have a cure??? how??? and a person with cronic anxiety can have a normal life??? by this i mean that i don't have cronic anxiety is just a question

Have you had a anxiety or panic attack & what did you do?

If you have ever had an anxiety or panic attack and found a way of getting out of it, please tell me how you did it. I do not suffer chronically from them, but I do get them and don’t really know how to handle them, the not been able to breathe, the strange feelings of losing it etc. I have tried to talk to myself to calm down and to do deep breathing, but it doesn’t really help. If you have any constructive methods, I would be very grateful.

You have to control your thoughts. You have to state what is TRUE, what you want to happen, and the 1st,2nd and 3rds steps to acheive what you want. And out loud to your self.” What IS true is that I am out side in the quad. What is true is that I have a class in 15 minutes. What is true is that I know the way to get to my class, What is true is that I have an assigned seat waiting for me in that class. Can hypnosis work for panic attacks?

My partner has suffered for many years with panic attacks and despite medical treatment and psycological treatment has as yet found no real solution any suggestions from those of you who have experienced this yourselves?
I don't want to remove my question Minddoctor because I am interested by the experiences of real people. My partner is French too infact and has been treated by French Psychiatrists, including the chemical treatments you mention which unfortunatley also have severe side affects. Agrophobia and Clautrophobia are also elements of this illness along with eating disorders, stress disorders and a gereally decreased quality of life. I'm not asking questions on this site to get purely medial adive because we are recieving that from qualified doctors but simply to find out more about other peoples experiences and in particular their thoughts on the area of hypnotherapy which we had heard about along with yoga, relaxation techniques, tai chi etc. etc. as possible complementary therapies, to regain a sense of control of your own body.

first of all im sorry i have suffered for many year of the ILLNESS panic attacks . i have tryed every thing hypnosis did work but it is very expensive and i couldnt carry on . diet is very important . im a lot better now i think because i have excepted that i suffer with the illness and they will never go but i can learn to control them . fear is a terrible thing when i started to get them i thought i was going mad but i now know im not . i now have a man who will sit a listen which helps i brought a book a few weeks ago it is great , Stress & Nervous Disorders by jan de vries please get it read it youre self as well it really does help , im sorry i have gone on but there is hope its just you have to find answers all the best to you both

How can I lose 10 lbs with a panic attack anxiety disorder?

Every time I am working out doing cardio my heart starts pounding and I am reminded of the terrible feeling of having a panic attack and I suddenly start to worry which literally throws me full force into one. I am getting married in September and want to shed a little belly & love handle fat I have gotten from being all different types of SSRI's for my anxiety disorder. Now I am off of all of those horrible meds & I cannot lose the little baby fat I gained in the process so I am very discouraged :( Will walking an hour 5 times a week do anything for me if I keep my abs engaged for the whole time? Someone please give me some good advice! 10 points for best answer!!

I also have panic attacks. What you need to do is stop what you are doing. If you need to sit down, then sit down. Take deep breaths. When panick attacks come, a lot of times you are breathing from your chest. Slow down and breathe from your stomach. It should slow everything down and get you back to normal. If that doesn't work, then I'd say take a 30 minute walk EVERY DAY. And cut back on a couple calories. Eat mostly fruits and veggies, protine, and a little carbs. That should do it! Good luck!

How do you make yourself feel better during panic attack?

Suffer with panic attacks and just looking for some techniques to help alleviate symptoms of a panic attack. Any suggestions helpful

after going through tests to check my heart and thyroid – everything was fine, the best advice my doctor gave me was to breath in a paper bag. another trick i found helpful was to find my pulse on my wrist and count my heartbeats. after a few minutes of counting, i found this helped slow my heartbeat.

I too had difficultly breathing and my doctor told me that the attack makes you hyperventilate. when you hyperventilate, you get dizzy and sometimes faint (i never did). I was told, this is body's way of taking care of itself. If you faint, your breathing will return to normal.

after I learned the worst thing that could happen is I would hyperventilate or faint, i finally got control over the attacks.
